Setup Apple Mail with POP PDF Print E-mail
Setup Apple Mail with POP

This document will walk you through setting up Apple Mail to retrieve your email via POP with Ideanode servers.

Make sure that you replace “example.com” with the name of your domain name in each of the examples below.

Open up Mail for the first time.

You should get a dialog like this:

For account type, we’re going to select “POP”. In Description and Email Address, type in your full email address. For Full Name, enter your name as you want it to appear in outgoing emails. For incoming mail server, type in “imap.example.com” where “example.com” is your domain name (like seanporter.com). For username, use the email address for this account.

(If you don’t, or you’re adding another account to your existing email, no problem, just go to Accounts in Preferences) and enter in the same information.

If you’re opening mail for the first time, you may be asked if you want to import mail from another program. Click “No.”

You should see this screen (if you don’t, click on “Mail”, then “Preferences”, then “Accounts.”)

Now we need to change the settings for your outgoing mail.

Now you’ll want to click on the “Server Settings…” button to set your outgoing mail server. In the “Outgoing Mail Server:” dialong, enter in “smtp.example.com” where “example.com” is your domain name, like “seanporter.com”. For “Server Port:” enter in “587.” For “Authentication:” select “Password”, for “User Name:” enter in your email address, and for “Password:” your assigned password. Like so:

That’s it. You’re done!
